गाँधी जी का सिद्धांत मानवतावादी सिद्धांत है. उन्होंने हमेशा किसी भी संघर्ष व अहिंसापूर्ण आंदोलन की नींव में मुख्यधारा से वंचित सामान्य जनता को ही रखा. मुख्यधारा का मेरा आशय उन सुसंपन्न व पूँजीपतियों से है जो स्वतंत्रतापूर्व भारत के परिवेश में ब्रिटिश सत्ता के आश्रय में अपने स्वार्थों की पूर्ति करते थे. इस प्रकार से भारतवर्ष की दमित पुकार गाँधी जी ने सामान्य जनता के हृदय के माध्यम से सुना. माध्यम उनके अहिंसा, असहयोग, सत्याग्रह आदि रहे लेकिन इन सभी के ज़रिये उनका यही लक्ष्य रहा कि भारतीय जनता अपनी ही ज़मीन में स्वतंत्र बनकर जीएँ. स्वतंत्र न केवल परतंत्रता से मुक्त होने पर परंतु रूढ़ियों व अंधविश्वासों से स्वाधीन होकर जीने में.

गाँधीवाद के इसी शाश्वत मूल्यगत सिद्धांत का अनुसरण करते हुए महात्मा गाँधी संस्थान के हिंदी विभाग के प्राध्यापकों व छात्रों ने गाँधी जयंती के उपलक्ष्य पर कालबास नामक ग्राम में स्थित मानव सेवा ट्रस्ट के वृद्धाश्रम में गुरुवार 26 सितम्बर 2011 को श्रम दान किया. संस्थान के हिंदी विभाग की ओर से इस प्रथम प्रयास पर अपना हर्ष दिखाती हुई विभागाध्यक्षा डॉ राजरानी गोबिन ने विभाग के सभी प्राध्यापकों को इस आयोजन को साकार बनाने के लिए बधाई तो दी परंतु बी ए प्रथम, द्वितीय और तृतीय वर्ष के छात्रों को श्रमदान करते हुए देख गर्व का आभास किया. कुछ इसी प्रकार के अनुभव आश्रम में जाने पर सभी को हुआ.

छात्रों के लिए यह एक अद्भुत अनुभव रहा. किसी न किसी रूप में समाज व परिवार के निर्माण व सुदृढ़ीकरण में अपनी आजीवन भूमिका निभाने पर अपनी वृद्धावस्था अपनी हम-उम्र के साथियों के साथ

बिताने पर ‘विवश’ ऐसे दादा-दादियों के सान्निध्य में पूरा दिन बिताने में छात्रों ने जीवन के पाठ्यक्रम से कुछ अहम पाठ पढ़ने में सक्षम हुए. ऐसा अनेकों का मानना रहा.

शिक्षकों व छात्रों ने करीब दो-ढाई घंटे तक आश्रम के आँगन की सफाई की. कुछ टोलियों ने आश्रम के निवासियों के कमरों को साफ करते हुए वृद्धों को भोजन खिलाने में भी सहायता की. अन्यों ने अपंग निवासियों के साथ चित्र बनाते हुए, बॉल के साथ खेलते हुए, कैरम खेलते हुए अविस्मरणीय समय बिताए.




भोजन के उपरांत सभी निवासियों को एक हॉल में एकत्र किया गया जहाँ छात्रों ने संस्थान में आयोजित हिंदी सप्ताह के अंतर्गत दो नुक्कड़ नाटक प्रस्तुत किए (रक्त-दान और साठे पे पाठा). कुछ अनय प्रस्तुतियाँ भी रहीं जिनसे निवासियों का मनोरंजन हुआ.

मानव सेवा ट्रस्ट के अध्यक्ष श्री बिसेसर  जी ने छात्रों को संबोधित करते हुए उन्हें इस गतिविधि में भाग लेने के लिए बधाई दी. साथ ही उनकी उत्साह को बढ़ाने हेतु गाँधी जी के संदर्भ में कुछ ज्ञानवर्धक बातें भी की.






आश्रम के अध्यक्ष और निदेशक को धन्यवाद करते हुए छात्र-छात्राएँ अपने ढेर सारे अनुभवों की गठरी को अर्जित करते हुए गाँधी जयंती के उपलक्ष्य को सार्थक बनाते हुए वहाँ से प्रस्थान हुए … इस आशा के साथ कि अगले वर्ष पुन: आना है परंतु तब तक अनेक ऐसे प्रश्नों के उत्तर ढूंढने है जिनका सीधा संबंध वृद्धों की जीवनावस्था से है …
